Halkirk Railway Bridge

This walk took me out to the edge of the village to the rail bridge that crosses the river Thurso. The bridge carries the rail track for the Thurso Inverness train. It was a grey day but further south the sun was shining has it shone on the distant hills of Morven and Maiden Pap. From the bridge I returned to the village via the core path that runs parallel to Sinclair Lane to reach the village boundary at its eastern end. After a short visit to the ruins of Abbey Church, the old parish church originally built in 1753 I returned home via the Ulbster Arms.
