Dunnet Head Loop

A coastal walk on the Dunnet Head peninsular. I took the bus to Brough to walk to Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the UK mainland, following a combination of road and coastal path. Like John O’Groats, Dunnet Head is on the NC500 route (Scotlands answer to Route 66) and was full of camper …

A glorious day for walking, warm sunshine with a cooling breeze. Spectacular coastline with expansive views …

There are 12 small houses and despite being overgrown, traces of the small gardens that came with …

Sibster Farm

Exploring the locality around Halkirk. Looking for off road route to Georgemas Junction (nearest train station) without success, deer fences! Stumbled across Sibley Farm walk.

Halkirk to Thurso

A new walking route for me to Thurso from Halkirk, Crossing fields, following farm tracks and quiet country lanes. A delightful day for walking with wide open skies. Fields with large herds of cattle, including bulls and young calves. Great views of Thurso Bay and the Island of Hoy.

Calder Mains

A breezy 11k walk around Calder Mains. A fresh northerly wind with moments of warm sunshine, Today it was all about the beauty of the wide open skies, which for me, are becoming synonymous with Caithness.

Castletown, Dunnet Bay, and Thurso

A walk from Castletown to Dunett Bay and beach and back to Thurso following the coastal path. Good walking weather with clear views across to the Orkney Islands and the Old Man of Hoy.
